Dentures

Tooth loss is one of the most troubling oral health issues that a person can experience. Teeth are vital for everyday tasks such as chewing and speaking, and they play a big role in a person’s appearance. Additionally, the absence of teeth can result in other serious problems, such as the deterioration of the jawbone, loss of facial structure, severe bite imbalances and undesired tooth shifts.

At Bergenfield Dental, we are proud to offer custom-built, natural-looking dentures for patients missing some or all of their teeth. Our lineup of denture services includes denture stabilization implants and fixed dentures.

Denture Stabilization Implants

Consisting of prosthetic, artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored base, dentures are worn inside the mouth by patients who suffer from tooth loss. They offer all of the functions of natural teeth, while also providing a major boost to one’s appearance. Once a patient is used to wearing dentures, they can feel completely comfortable and natural. We recommend either removable dentures with denture stabilization implants or fixed dentures because of their superior strength and stability over traditional suction-based dentures.

Removable dentures with denture stabilization implants remain securely in place using a permanently implanted metal framework. This structure secures the dentures even when the wearer is talking or eating. Just one minimally-invasive surgery is all that is needed to install the framework. While kept securely in place when needed, removable dentures can also be easily taken out by the user for cleaning purposes and then quickly reinserted. A set of removable dentures typically lasts up to eight years with proper care.

Fixed Dentures

Using four to six dental implants, fixed dentures are permanently attached within the wearer’s mouth, and they cannot be removed except with oral surgery. Because dental implants function much like natural tooth roots, most people with fixed dentures say that they feel exactly like natural teeth. Fixed dentures are often the preferred option for replacing missing teeth because of their unparalleled strength and stability when talking and eating. Cared for properly, fixed dentures should last an entire lifetime.
