Crowns Bridges

When conducting tooth restorations, our goal is to provide results that look and feel completely natural. A good smile can make all the difference, and that is why we work to give our patients a look that they can show off to the world with confidence. At Bergenfield Dental, we take great pride in our dental crowns and bridges because we know what a difference they can make for our patients. When you come to us for a dental crown or bridgework, you can be sure that you will leave with healthy, natural-looking teeth and a beautiful smile.

Porcelain Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped structure that is placed at the site of a lost or damaged tooth as a way of restoring its appearance and function. All of our dental crowns are built from porcelain because of the material’s outstanding functionality and natural appearance.

People receive dental crowns for many reasons, including:

  • Protecting weakened teeth
  • Root canal treatment
  • Problems with tooth function
  • Smile improvements
  • Support for misshapen teeth

Since our crowns are custom-designed, patients receiving a dental crown will be required to make two visits to our clinic. The first visit involves prepping the tooth for the crown and taking impressions of the patient’s mouth so that a custom crown can be built. The second visit is when the actual installation of the crown will take place.

The process starts by shaving off a portion of the affected tooth so that the dental crown will be able to fit properly. Next, impressions of the patient’s mouth will be taken and sent off to a special dental laboratory so that the crown can be created. The first visit will end with the patient being fitted with a temporary restoration that is designed to last until the permanent crown is ready.

The patient will return for their second visit once the custom dental crown is prepared. Using a dental bonding agent, the crown will be permanently fixed to the patient’s tooth. Once finished, the patient will be provided with instructions on how to care for their newly-installed dental crown.

Porcelain Bridges

Also called a partial denture, dental bridges are used to replace multiple missing teeth. Bridges consist of natural-looking artificial teeth, and they are supported by the original teeth that still remain in the mouth. Bridges can either be removable or permanently fixed within the mouth. At Bergenfield Dental, all of our bridges are built using porcelain because of the material’s superb functionality and natural appearance.

Fixed bridges remain permanently secured inside the mouth by either directly bonding prosthetic teeth to the supporting natural teeth or by placing dental crowns upon the supporting teeth. Removable bridges are kept in place using metal clasps or precision attachments. A user can take their removable bridge out of their mouth when it’s time for cleaning.
