Are you missing one or multiple teeth due to disease, decay, or injury? Dental implants may be right for you. As an dental implant instructor at New York University and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Diplomate/Board-Certified with the American Board of Oral Implantology, Dr. Shahid is uniquely qualified to meet your dental implant needs. Dr. Shahid and his caring, dedicated team can help to restore your smile and give you back the life you have been missing.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

What are dental implants? Dental implants can be life-changing for patients who are currently living without teeth. But why implants over another type of restoration? Dental implants are a great solution because they are:

  • Strong. Dental implants restore almost 100 percent of your natural chewing ability. They allow you to eat whatever you want and can last for a lifetime.
  • Beautiful. We skillfully craft our crowns to mimic the appearance of natural teeth. Whether you are getting one implant or a full-mouth restoration, we will make sure your new teeth are as beautiful as possible.
  • Healthy. Implants are easy to care for and promote improved dental health. Did you know that living with missing teeth can actually be detrimental to the surrounding healthy teeth? While the tooth socket is empty, the jawbone continues to deteriorate – this puts your other teeth at risk. Implants eliminate this problem because they are placed into your gums, preserving your jawbone structure.

Our All-on-4 dental implants are a special type of full-arch restoration that is secured by only four implants. The implants are strategically placed in order to provide the most support with as minimally invasive placement as possible.

Our All-on-6 implants work just like All-on-4 except that they are supported by 6 strategically placed implants. Both types provide just as much strength as a full mouth of traditional implants while using only a small number of implants.

Mini Dental Implants

Mini dental implants are smaller, easier-to-place implants that are commonly used as immediate-loading implants. This means that you can have your replacement crowns without waiting a certain amount of time to heal. Mini implants are minimally invasive, and so the requirements for your bone structure are less strict than with traditional implants. They can also be a more cost-effective option.

Our Teeth-in-an-Hour service can allow you to receive dental implants and your replacement crown in just one visit to our office. We can place your implants and have you home and back to your normal life in just about an hour. Our office uses a special type of mini implant to quickly place your implants and immediately load them with your restorative crowns, quickly and effectively restoring your smile. Implant-Retained Dentures

Implant-retained dentures are a type of restoration that works just like traditional dentures in that they replace your natural teeth. However, they are secured to your gums by dental implants and a bar. The bar is attached onto the dental implants and your dentures are attached to the bar. They are removable by your dentist and provide more support than traditional dentures.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures work similarly to implant-retained dentures except that they are attached to balls instead of a bar. These ball attachments sit in the implant socket and secure the dentures. Both implant-supported and implant-retained dentures discourage jawbone deterioration and keep your bone structure healthier for longer than living with traditional dentures or without teeth altogether.

Bone Grafting

Before placing dental implants, we must make sure there is adequate bone structure available to support the implants. If there is not, our office is trained in advanced bone grafting techniques. We are able to graft bone from other areas in order to build up enough support for implants to be placed. All of this is done in-office – no need to see multiple specialists or oral surgeons for this procedure.

If you think one of our dental implant procedure and option may be right for you, call our office at 201-384-0100 to schedule a consultation. You can also use our online form. Dr. Shahid and his team can help you gain a new, fully functioning smile.
